About

Roger Mei is a Hong Kong-born, New York-based illustrator and designer who recently earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Parsons School of Design. Having spent the past five years living in Seattle and Los Angeles before relocating to New York City, he has developed a distinctive, concept-driven artistic style. His work is characterized by the use of lines, patterns, and colors as primary tools to convey complex ideas and emotions related to human relationships, mental states, and the environments that influence him. His approach centers on distilling sophisticated, intangible personal observations into simplified forms, resulting in compositions that are both clear and profound. This method allows viewers to engage deeply with the emotions embedded in each piece without feeling overwhelmed. His creative process is also heavily inspired by the visceral responses evoked by rhythm, sound, and visual elements, particularly those found in music and nature. These stimuli enable him to translate his experiences into visual expressions that resonate authentically with both himself and his audience.
